Machining Technology

Aurora CAD/CAM specializes in two main types machining methods to meet customers’ needs and machine just about any material: CNC and EDM machining.

CNC Machining

CNC (computer numerical controlled) machining has continually revolutionized the manufacturing process for years. Because we specialize in precision CNC machining, we can work with even the toughest-to-machine materials, such as:

  • Titanium
  • Inconel
  • Stainless steel
  • Hardened steel (up to 70 Rockwell)

We  have yet to work with a material we have not been able to machine efficiently.

CNC Investment

Aurora CAD/CAM recently invested in 2 new Makino S-56 vertical milling centers. These new machines allows us precision-machining capabilities of tolerances as tight as five microns In materials as hard as 70 Rockwell!

EDM Machining

EDM (electrical discharge) machining is the process by which the desired shape is cut from a given material by using electrical discharges, or sparks. This process, which has only been CNC machined since 1980, allows Aurora CAD/CAM to work with materials that are much too hard to be machined using traditional methods. We utilize both sinker EDM and wire EDM machining methods.
